When your business includes the performance of electrical installation work (the installation of wiring systems), the business must hold an unrestricted electrical contracting licence (gold). Two of the requirements for holding a gold electrical contracting licence is that the business has both a Qualified Technical Person and Qualified Business Person as a member or employee of the business.

When your business includes the performance of electrical maintenance or repair work, the business must hold either a trade contracting licence or a restricted electrical contracting licence (silver). Two of the requirements for holding a silver electrical contracting licence is that the business has both a Qualified Technical Person and Qualified Business Person as a member or employee of the business.

Training for QTP (Gold Licence):

UEENEEG197A Apply currency of safe working practices and compliance verification of electrical installations.

UEENEEG122A Conduct compliance inspection of single phase LV electrical installations.

UEENEEG123A Conduct compliance inspection of LV electrical installations with demand exceeding 100 A per phase.

Training for QTP (Silver Licence):

No training is required.

Training for QBP:

The person must have completed within three years of the date of application:

UEENEEE101A - Apply Occupational Health and Safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace, and

UEENEEG175A - Develop compliance policies and plans to conduct an electrical contracting business, and either:

BSBSMB401A- Establish legal and risk management requirements of small business or approved equivalent (completed within the last three years), or

An Australian business qualification at Diploma level or higher (e.g. Bachelor of Business) regardless of when the qualification was obtained.

ALTERNATIVELY

The person can provide evidence of having operated a business for a period of, or periods totalling, five years.

Training for QBP:

The person must have completed within three years of the date of application:

UEENEEG175A - Develop compliance policies and plans to conduct an electrical contracting business,or:

BSBSMB401A- Establish legal and risk management requirements of small business or approved equivalent (completed within the last three years).

ALTERNATIVELY

The person can provide evidence of having operated a business for a period of, or periods totalling, five years.

QTP Training (Gold): AS/NZS3000, AS/NZS3008.1.1, SWMS, Max Demand, Voltage Drop, Design, three phase faults, Verification etc QBP (Gold or Silver): Two assignments and two theory exams
