When your business includes the performance of electrical installation work (the installation of wiring systems), the business must hold an unrestricted electrical contracting licence (gold). Two of the requirements for holding a gold electrical contracting licence is that the business has both a Qualified Technical Person and Qualified Business Person as a member or employee of the business.

When your business includes the performance of electrical maintenance or repair work, the business must hold either a trade contracting licence or a restricted electrical contracting licence (silver). Two of the requirements for holding a silver electrical contracting licence is that the business has both a Qualified Technical Person and Qualified Business Person as a member or employee of the business.

Training for QTP (Gold Licence):

UEEEL0002 - Apply currency of safe working practices and compliance verification of electrical installations.

UEEEL0030 - Conduct compliance inspection of single phase LV electrical installations.

UEEEL0029 - Conduct compliance inspection of LV electrical installations with demand exceeding 100 A per phase.

Training for QTP (Silver Licence):

No training is required.

Training for QBP for both Gold and Silver Contracting Licences:

The person must complete or have completed:

UEECD0007 - Apply Occupational Health and Safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace, and

UEEEL0040 - Develop compliance policies and plans to conduct an electrical contracting business,

BSBESB402- Establish legal and risk management requirements of small business.

You need to complete the QET QBP Learning Guide and two assignments prior to attending a three day training workshop which includes completion of the theory assessment.

People without an Electrical Licence wishing to complete QBP training with QET will need experience in high risk construction work, risk assessments and safe work method statements.
